Devils Own rally - Car 62, navigator Richard Clark
48th overall
A real mixture of machinery on offer on this superb event covering 170 miles, nine regularities and eight excellent tests. Well known for being fast paced and tricky, it provided exhilaration and challenges, as it was Richard's first go at night navigation and I almost managed to drown PVW! The tests were excellent, from slippy farm yards to quarries. Crossing a deep ford was almost our undoing, I had yet to learn the Mini rubber glove trick, and had to keep the revs up to stop her cutting out until I could dry the distributor out at the rest halt! Regularity 4 was in Grizedale forest at night and proved very exciting both for navigator and driver. The remaining five regularities and one test were all in the dark which meant Richard had to work hard to keep us on track. A great event which we thoroughly enjoyed.
