June 29th - After growing discontent at the lack of progress in obtaining the necessary signatures to upgrade Rick's licence it was decided to enter additional events to ease the pressure on time. The John Overend Stages Memorial Rally at Manby was the first "extra" event that was selected for this purpose.
After a rain-soaked Friday, the Saturday morning of the single venue rally dawned dull but dry and Trevor was looking forward to a relaxing tour of the stages at Manby, or so it seemed. The very first stage proved this wrong, as a tempting 600-yard dash along a grass straight could only be arrested by contact with the entry bale to a right/left chicane. The preceding day's rain caught out many a crew on this particular section, but 'once bitten twice shy' proved the lesson of the day. Apart from a nasty right/left kink that featured on all the latter stages the pair were pleased to emerge unscathed with a 36th overall, 7th in class finish.
