Tour of the Sperrins – Car 206, DNF SS9
In May 2004 Ian and Trevor Godwin would take WNR 30S to Northern Ireland. This was a round of the NI championship and their first visit to Ulster. HQ was Walsh's Hotel in Maghera and the event comprised 12 gravel stages, all based in the county of Londonderry.
A very relaxed approach from the organising team made them feel welcome and scrutineering was uneventful. They thoroughly enjoyed their time in Ulster taking an opportunity to explore the Antrim coast and sample the delights of the Bushmills distillery.
The event comprised a five stage loop using Glenshane, Banagher, Moydamlaght and Goles forests before the cars arrived into service at the foot of the Glenshane Pass on the main Belfast to Derry road for much a needed breather. The same loop was completed again before the final two stages of the day, variations on Moydamlaght and Banagher from those used earlier, with the 1st car is due back in Maghera at 6pm outside Walsh's for the celebrations.
No celebrations for Trevor and Ian, as they went out on SS9 with a long trip home.
